Invisalign™

Invisalign™ is a Revolutionary Way of Straightening Teeth

Invisalign Appliances

For decades, traditional braces had been the only option for adults who wanted straighter teeth. The Invisalign™ System offers the first true alternative, by utilizing advances in 3-D imaging technology to create a series of customized plastic aligners.

It all begins with a visit to Dr. Davis, an Invisalign™ certified orthodontist, who will help you determine what you'd like to correct. Next, Dr. Davis sends Invisalign™ your precise treatment instructions. Invisalign™ then uses its proprietary computer technology to create a sequence of finely-calibrated clear plastic aligners—as few as 12 or as many as 48, depending on your particular case.

You'll wear each aligner for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will move—little by little, week by week—until they reach the final alignment Dr. Davis has prescribed.

Invisalign Patient Is Invisalign™ right for you?

Invisalign™ has proven to be effective for many patients seeking straighter teeth. Dr. Davis is an orthodontist who has been Invisalign-trained and certified to determine if this treatment is an effective option for you. Invisalign™ is not intended for children and is not appropriate for everyone.

Overview of the Align Procedure

Step 1   You'll set up a visit with Dr. Davis, an Invisalign™ certified Orthodontist.

Step 2   During your initial visit, Dr. Davis will help you decide on your course of treatment. Impressions of your teeth will be taken at this and your next appointment and sent along with a precise set of instructions to Invisalign.

Step 3   Invisalign™ will use advanced computer technology to transform your impressions into a sequence of finely calibrated, clear, plastic aligners.

Step 4   During your next visit with Dr. Davis, you will receive your initial sets of aligners. You will wear each for about 2 weeks. There may be as many as 48 in the series or as few as 12, depending on the treatment. You will take them out only when eating, brushing, and flossing. As you replace each aligner with the next one, your teeth will move gradually, millimeter by millimeter, until they reach the final alignment prescribed by Dr. Davis.

Wearing Your Aligners

You'll wear your Invisalign™ aligners day and night, except to eat, brush and floss. And you'll quickly discover a number of important advantages over metal braces:

Comfortable: No metal brackets. No wires. No permanent fixtures. In fact, the Invisalign™ plastic aligners fit so seamlessly over your teeth, you'll barely remember having them on.

Undetectable:   What you can't see is what you get. The Invisalign™ System is virtually undetectable … almost like contact lenses for your teeth!

Removable: The aligners pop in and out for eating, brushing, and flossing. They're more convenient, and offer better oral hygiene than permanent braces.

Is this a new way to straighten teeth?

For years, orthodontists have used removable appliances for very limited treatment. Today, with the application of computer technology, the Invisalign™ System treats a broader range of cases with greater precision.

Will the treatment be painful?

Most people experience temporary, minor discomfort for a few days at the beginning of each new stage of treatment. This is normal and is typically described as a feeling of pressure. It is a sign that the Invisalign™ aligners are working—sequentially moving your teeth to their final destination. This discomfort typically goes away a couple of days after you insert the new aligner in the series.

Will wearing the Invisalign™ aligners affect my speech?

The vast majority of patients report no effect on speech. However, as with traditional orthodontic appliances, there is an initial adjustment period.

How do I get started with this system?

Just make an appointment with Dr. Davis for an initial exam.
